Top Fashion Trends to Try on Your Next Vacation

Planning a getaway? The excitement of exploring new places can be matched with the excitement for wearing stylish outfits which make a statement. Fashion trends that blend comfort and flair can elevate any travel experience and offer a great excuse to get dressed up!

This season, the focus has been on vibrant jeweltoned colors, unique patterns and prints (leopard print, florals), and versatile pieces you can layer up with oversized coats and lighter sweaters beneath), all which allow for personal expression while embracing practicality. Outfits that inspire confidence can make all the difference, I know I feel my best when I’m happy with my outfit. Here’s a look at the top fashion trends to try on your next vacation at home or abroad!

1. Sustainable Fashion
Sustainable clothing has (thankfully) gained popularity in recent years. Eco-friendly fabrics such as organic cotton and recycled materials, are being embraced by many. Not only do these fabrics minimize environmental impact, but they also offer comfort as they’re kind on the skin and breathable during long journeys/ flights.

Most importantly, choosing sustainable brands help to support ethical practices in the fashion industry, so making eco-conscious choices first and foremost should be a priority. Additionally, these garments often feature unique designs and quality craftsmanship, ensuring that style is not sacrificed for sustainability. As more travelers seek to reduce their carbon footprint, embracing sustainable fashion becomes a meaningful way to connect with the places being visited too so shop locally when you’re away for original and environmentally friendly choices.

2. Athleisure Wear
Athleisure wear stands out as the go-to option for travelling and during your vacation. With the perfect blend of comfort and style, nothing beats chic loungewear. Stylish leggings, trackies/joggers, and breathable tops work well whether you’re exploring a brand new city or lounging at a café. Comfort is prioritized with athleisure wear, providing you with effortless transitions from airport to the gym and strolls around parks or museums. Footwear like sneakers (I’m a fan of ON Cloudtech trainers for comfort) and sporty backpacks from designer to high street, enhance the overall look, creating an effortlessly chic vibe while remaining practical.

3. Statement Accessories
Statement accessories can elevate any outfit, making a bold fashion statement. Eye-catching sunglasses, oversized hats, and colorful bags truly enhance personal style.

Accessories can be mixed and matched to create unique looks, allowing creativity to shine through. Playing with different textures and colors can bring a sense of excitement too. Additionally, these accessories often serve functional purposes, providing protection from the sun or convenient storage for essentials. A statement piece can also spark conversations with locals or fellow travelers, making them an essential part of the travel experience. I’m always stopped when I wear my oversized sun hat!

4. Graphic Tees
Graphic tees have remained a staple in casual travel wardrobes. Relaxed, super cool and comfy too, we collect tees in this family! They’re incredibly versatile pieces (who doesn’t love a tee?) and can be paired with shorts, skirts, trackies and even smart trousers and of course are perfect layered under cardies and jackets, ensuring comfort whatever you’re up to!

Choosing graphic tees that represent favorite places or hobbies can spark conversations with others (I have Paris, New York and even my kids’ names on tees). Additionally, these tees can be a canvas for creativity, showcasing unique artwork or messages that resonate with your personal preferences and values. ‘Be Kind’ can be read on one of my daughter’s sweaters which is adorable. When exploring new destinations, a graphic tee can serve as a conversation starter, inviting others to share their own stories and recommendations. Fashion can be an ice-breaker!

5. Relaxed Silhouettes
Relaxed silhouettes have gained traction, promoting comfort during travel. Loose-fitting tops, dresses and wide-leg pants are often seen as stylish alternatives to traditional fitted clothing. Breathable fabrics allow for easy movement, making them ideal for long days of travelling and exploring. This trend focuses on freedom and ease, ensuring that comfort is prioritized without compromising style. Furthermore, relaxed silhouettes can be effortlessly dressed up or down, allowing for versatility in various settings, from casual outings to more formal occasions and even nights out. I like to wear mid length dresses with biker boots and jacket for a casual everyday autumnal look. Layering these pieces can also create interesting textures and dimensions, making every outfit feel fresh.

6. Layering Essentials

Layering has been embraced as an essential travel strategy. Lightweight jackets, cardigans, and scarves can be added to outfits for versatility. This approach allows for easy adaptation to changing weather conditions, ensuring comfort and style throughout the day. This technique can also help in creating a cohesive wardrobe that simplifies packing while maximizing outfit options. Investing in quality layering essentials means that both style and function can be achieved and clothes last longer. Opt for slow fashion over fast, with effortlessly chic items you will wear and wear.

7. Bold Prints and Patterns
Bold prints and patterns have been embraced as a way to stand out and showcase your personality. Vibrant florals, geometric designs, and colorful stripes can be mixed and matched for a playful look. Donning attention-grabbing outfits can create memorable moments, especially in picturesque destinations when snapping and sharing for social media. By wearing prints that resonate with the local scenery or architecture, a personal style can be seamlessly integrated with the travel experience. I love buying items whilst travelling, I won’t easily find in the UK. Even stores like Zara stock different items depending on where they are in the world.

By incorporating these fashion trends into your travel wardrobe, style can be effortlessly maintained without having to sacrifice comfort. Your vacations can be approached with confidence, helping you feel your best (you deserve it Mama). Adopting these trends allows for personal expression while making your holidays even more enjoyable.
