How to Play the Spider Math Game
Almost everything you need to play these counting games is included in the printable set. You only need a few basic supplies and you are ready to play.
Supplies
To play these spider counting games you’ll need:
- Spider counting game printables (see below to download)
- Scissors
- Dice or spinner.
- pencil or pen (optional)
- glue or tape (to make the colour dice – optional)
- paper clip or transparent spinner mat (optional)
There is a page of flies with coloured wings to add to the spider web, just print the page and cut out each one. Or you could use some small manipulatives such as fake plastic flies, or pom poms, as flies, and work on some fine motor skills while you play the game.
To make the color dice simple print and cut out the dice, fold along the lines and use a little glue or tape to attach the tabs.
To use the printable color spinner, put a paper clip over the centre of the spinner and pot the tip of a pencil into the paper clip, holding it in place so you can spin it. Or use a transparent spinner mat over the top of the printed spinner.
How to Play the Spider Counting Game
This simple spider roll and count game is perfect for preschoolers and kids who are working on number recognition, counting, and sorting.
To play the game, roll the dice to find out how many flies to add to the web, then count out the flies and put them on the spider’s web.
For an extra challenge use the colour dice or spinner after you roll the number to find out which colour of fly you should add to the web.
For younger children you can work on colour recognition and skip the number dice all together and just have fun adding coloured flies to the spider’s web.
How to Play the Spider Addition Game.
The spider addition game is great for kids who are ready to try simple addition.
To play the addition game you’ll need two dice. Roll both dice and put one in each circle to make an addition sum. Then put the number of flies shown on each dice onto the spider’s web, and then count all the flies together to get the answer to the sum.
For an extra challenge use the colour dice or spinner after you roll each number to find out how many of each colour fly to add to the spiders web and make up the sum.
There is a space to write the numbers and the answer if you wish. You may like to laminate this game mat and use a dry erase marker so you can use it over and over.
Free Printable Spider Math Game
This printable spider math game includes two differentiated spider activities – one for counting and one for simple addition. There is also a page of flies to print to use as manipulatives, plus a page with a printable color spinner and printable color dice.
This printable is an A4 sized pdf file, you will need a pdf reader such as adobe acrobat to open it. It will fit to print on US ‘letter sized’ paper, just be sure to select ‘fit’ or ‘shrink to fit’ from your printer options to allow for printer margins.
