Chantry woke up again and struggled to go back to sleep. Must be due to the long sleep she’s been having every night since the summer break. For three nights in a row, she has been asking me to sleep beside her, and I did–to provide comfort at the hour she might wake up only to struggle to go back to sleep again. This morning is the same story but this time I decided to get up with her so she could play with her new toy instead of remaining in bed.
She was in the living room, I was on my desk. Having taken coffee myself, I held a devotional book and decided to watch my baptism video. The audio of my baptism caught my daughter’s ears. Without wasting time, she hurriedly walked toward me and washed it till the end. On the final frame was the Bible verse “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
My daughter, out of her innocence, told me “Begotten Son, I am the Son.” So, I gently corrected her who the Son is. It’s Jesus. Then, I explained a bit about Trinity. I told her that “‘God is the Father. People thought God was so high and far, so hard to reach. To make it easier for others to understand His love, He went down to earth to become a Man. That Man is the Son, Jesus. We (pointing to Chantry and myself) are God’s children.”
So, is Jesus then our brother? Interestingly, even if Jesus’ nature is God, He refers to us as His brothers/sisters, as written in a number of passages Hebrews 2:11, Romans 8:29, and Mark 3:34.
Our conversation ended at that, and it makes me determined to explain to Chantry further about Trinity in our next conversation.
