Family Fun with Sylvanian Families

The toy line was first created in Japan in 1985 by Epoch, a Japanese toy company whose concept was to build a world of toy animals which lived in a 1950s pastoral setting, bringing much-loved and more obscure and lesser known animals to life with their anthropomorphic figurines and their pretty cottages, houses, cars, campervans and more.

The toys were inspired by a brand new technical process for simulating animal fur, helping Epoch create realistic, cute and strokeable little characters for children 3 years old and above.

There was even a TV series in the late 80s featuring these sweet animal families, and today, the Sylvanian Families brand has stood the test of time with their expansive ranges selling in over 50 countries. Wow!

The red roof cottage with its textured beige interior and ladder connecting two floors comes complete with sweet Freya the Chocolate Rabbit Girl and a selection of starter furniture spanning a kitchen sink with cupboards, table and chairs and beds for the upstairs, as well as some carefully designed accessories including a frying pan, fork, dish and omelette. Adorable!

This set can also connect to either a Sweet Raspberry Home, Red Roof Country Home or both.

Easy to build with ample space for little hands to manoeuvre the furry figures around, we were also kindly sent a limited edition Happy Christmas Friends Dollshouse playset with a Husky Girl and three babies dressed in festive holiday outfits!

The Husky Girl wears a Christmas tree dress, and the babies wear a Santa dress, snowman, and gingerbread outfit respectively and could not be cuter! Gorgeous!

Every time I play with Sylvanian Families my inner child comes to life, delighted and happy again. Playing with toys like this really is a gift for myself as much as my daughter.
